Uk Weather Mini Heatwave To Hit Britain In The Days Ahead

The UK is about to undergo a pleasant change in the weather over the next few days. WX Weather models suggest that a mini heatwave is on the horizon, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees Celsius in some areas.

The French Influence on British Weather

The heatwave sweeping across France is expected to cause a temporary rise in temperatures, particularly in the south-east of the country. Regions concerned could see maximum temperatures of around 19 degrees Celsius before the mercury drops back slightly.

Having a closer look at the maps generated from MetDesk data reveals the distribution of temperatures across the country at 3pm on 26 April.

In Greater London, temperatures are expected to reach a balmy +19°C, while the south of the country will be between +14 and +16°C. Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia should experience temperatures of between +14 and +17 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Northern England will remain slightly cooler, with temperatures of between +10 and +13 °C. A similar pattern is expected in Northern Ireland, with temperatures of between +13 and +14 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, Scotland is likely to remain relatively cool, with temperatures of 3-4 degrees Celsius in the Highlands and 6 degrees Celsius in Aberdeenshire.

Don't expect a heatwave. Temperatures will be close to, if not slightly above, average, but they will be warm thanks to sunshine and light winds...

said Mark Sidaway, Deputy Chief Meteorologist.

According to the weather models for 22 April at 6am, the UK will be caught between two systems. The South East, South, Central and North East regions will experience temperatures at or slightly below average for this time of year.

Interestingly, Wales, Northern Ireland, much of Scotland and the south-west of England are expected to see temperatures rise by up to 4 °C above average for that date, according to WX Charts.

Weather Outlook Tonight and Tomorrow

The weather tonight will be cold with dry spells, except for a few showers in Wales and the east of Scotland. The East Coast will benefit from breezes. Scattered frosts in the north, with everyone feeling cold.

By Wednesday, there will be sunshine and a few scattered showers, with lighter winds than recently, although still breezy on the East Coast. Scattered rain arriving in Northern Ireland.

High pressure building for the weekend

According to the Met Office's long-range forecast, a high pressure system is expected to develop over the weekend from the Atlantic. This may lead to uncertain cloud cover, with a mixture of cloudy and clear areas. Some clearer conditions could lead to frost and fog overnight.

The forecast also suggests the possibility of showers or light rain at times, which will probably affect outlying areas of the UK. However, it will not be all gloom and doom: light winds and sunshine will make it a pleasant day for many, even if temperatures are not very high.

Most of the south-west of the country should enjoy prolonged sunshine. In the far north of Scotland and in Northern Ireland, a few clouds and some rain are expected, but in most regions, the day promises to be fine and dry.

Temperatures will become colder overnight, with frost very likely in southern regions. High pressure should persist until Sunday, although showers are possible in some northern and eastern regions.

A Cloudier Sunday

On Sunday, the sky should be cloudier than on Saturday, particularly in the north and east, but there will still be a few sunny spells. More mild air will spread over the UK, with temperatures slightly higher than on Saturday.

Over the course of next week, a high-pressure system is set to remain close to the UK. Nevertheless, it is set to drift westwards, which could see a return to cooler weather and showers, particularly in the eastern regions.
