The scheme comes as the supermarket promotes a series of savings initiatives during the summer, including Freebie Thursdays for Clubcard members and an extension of its Kids Eat Free offer at The Café at Tesco. According to Tesco, the fuel coupon is currently worth as much as 8p per litre, depending on the price paid at the pump.
How the Tesco Fuel Discount Works
Customers must spend at least £60 in one qualifying in-store transaction to receive the 5% fuel coupon. The voucher applies to both diesel and unleaded petrol and must be presented in paper form at the kiosk when paying for fuel.
Tesco operates more than 500 filling stations across the UK. According to the retailer’s terms and conditions, the coupon can provide a maximum saving of £10 and requires a minimum fuel purchase of £1.
Only one coupon can be used per transaction. The discount cannot be redeemed through Pay at Pump or at unmanned petrol stations, and it is not valid in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or at Tesco Express stores that sell Esso fuel.
The voucher remains valid until 23 August, giving shoppers several days after the £60 qualifying-spend deadline to use it. Tesco said the offer was introduced as another way of helping customers make savings during the summer holiday period. The supermarket said: “At Tesco, we are always looking at how we can deliver great value for our customers, and the extra ways we can help them make even more savings this summer.”
Tesco Links the Offer to Wider Clubcard Savings
The fuel promotion sits alongside several other initiatives introduced or expanded by Tesco this year. The retailer recently launched Freebie Thursdays, which provides Clubcard members with coupons for free products, while its Kids Eat Free offer at The Café at Tesco has also been extended.
Earlier in 2026, Tesco expanded its Aldi Price Match scheme into more than 2,000 Tesco Express convenience stores. The supermarket has also been encouraging Clubcard users to check whether they have unused vouchers available in their accounts.
According to figures released by Tesco and reported by the Express, more than 500,000 shoppers have over £100 in unused Clubcard vouchers, while more than 95,000 have at least £200 available.
Clubcard members can exchange vouchers with more than 100 Reward Partners. With some partners, the vouchers can be worth up to three times their face value, allowing customers to use them towards holidays, meals and family days out.
Tesco UK marketing director Murray Bisschop said customers can sometimes focus on Clubcard Prices while overlooking the points and vouchers they have accumulated. “We wanted to remind Clubcard members that the vouchers they are sitting on could be turned into big savings on holidays, meals out or days out,” he said.
For motorists interested in the fuel offer, the key dates are fixed: the qualifying £60 in-store spend must be made by 16 August, while the resulting coupon must be redeemed by 23 August under Tesco’s stated conditions.
