The UK government has rolled out new Household Support Fund (HSF) payments to assist households struggling with the rising Cost of Living. The payments are designed to provide crucial financial support to individuals facing economic challenges due to escalating inflation and the increasing costs of essential goods and services.
According to information shared by BirminghamMail, the initiative will ensure that eligible individuals receive timely assistance to help with everyday living expenses. The HSF7 scheme aims to offer practical relief to those who need it most, helping them manage costs such as energy, food, and housing. Here’s what you need to know about the program.
Who Can Benefit from the HSF7 Payments?
The latest round of Household Support Fund payments, known as HSF7, is now available to certain individuals living in the Wealden District Council area. Those who qualify will receive a one-time payment of £200 to help cover their essential living costs. To be eligible, applicants must be receiving one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit (including the Housing Costs element)
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Reduction
- Severe Mental Impairment (SMI) exemption, which entitles individuals to a Council Tax Reduction
Applicants must also be over the age of 18 and residing within the Wealden District. If you meet these criteria, you may qualify for the payment, regardless of whether you received assistance under the previous HSF6 scheme.
The council explains:
Only one payment of £200 will be made per household, and applicants should be aware that they cannot apply multiple times under the scheme.
How to Apply and What You Can Expect
The application process for the HSF7 payment is straightforward, providing essential support amid the ongoing Cost of Living crisis. Eligible individuals can apply through the Apply4Online portal, where you’ll need to provide some basic personal details. After logging in, you’ll be prompted to use the quick code 658B4B to access the scheme.

If you have used the portal in the past, you can use the same account to apply, making it easier to access support during these challenging times. Once your application is approved, you can expect the £200 payment to be made directly into your bank account via BACS within 14 days. The council states:
We will make the payment direct to your bank account. Please allow 14 days from the date your application is approved for payment to reach your account.
The scheme will run in two phases:
- Phase 1, running from 1 August 2025 to 30 September 2025, will cover those who did not receive a payment under HSF6. This is an important detail to note, as this phase specifically targets people who were previously excluded from the earlier funding round.
- Phase 2, from 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026, will cover any remaining eligible claims.
The program will close either when the funds are exhausted or on 31 March 2026, whichever comes first. If you are applying, it is crucial to apply early, as the funds may be depleted before the program’s end date.
Why the HSF7 Payment Is Crucial for Many Households
For many households, the rising cost of food, energy, and housing has put additional strain on their finances. The HSF7 payment aims to alleviate some of that pressure, offering direct financial support to those most in need.
The Cost of Living continues to increase, and the £200 payment can help with essential costs like heating, food, and transport, offering a small but significant amount of financial security during difficult times.
These payments not only provide immediate relief but also act as a vital lifeline for families who may otherwise struggle to cover their basic living expenses. With inflation affecting prices across the board, the £200 payment can help ensure that households are able to manage their Cost of Living.
