Aldi confirms Christmas and New Year closures across its UK stores
Aldi will close every UK store on Christmas Day, Friday December 25, 2026, and Boxing Day, Saturday December 26, 2026. Stores will reopen on Sunday December 27, 2026. The supermarket will then close again on New Year’s Day, Friday January 1, 2027, before reopening on Saturday January 2, 2027. The dates apply across the company’s UK store network.
According to reports, Aldi said the reason for the closures was to give store colleagues more time with their families during the festive period. The company’s Communications Director, Rachel Geary, said Christmas is a special time for customers but is also one of the busiest periods of the year for Aldi teams.
“Our colleagues work incredibly hard to ensure customers can pick up everything they need ahead of the big day,” Geary said. “We never take that effort for granted. Closing our stores on Boxing Day is one way of saying thank you and giving colleagues a proper chance to rest, switch off and spend more time with the people closest to them.”
