PepsiCo has recalled its Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box after wheat and gluten were found to be missing from the outer packaging’s allergen information. The recall affects products sold in England, Scotland and Wales, with customers who have allergies, intolerances or coeliac disease being advised not to eat them.
The warning concerns an 85g packet of Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef included in the sharing box. Although the individual snack packets are correctly labelled, the outer packaging does not declare the presence of wheat. The issue has prompted a formal allergy alert and instructions for affected customers to obtain a full refund.
Walkers Recall Covers Specific Batches and Best-Before Dates
According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the recall applies to the Walkers Variety Snacks Sharing Box weighing 655g and containing six individual snack packs. The affected product carries batch code 107543 and has one of two best-before dates: 21 November 2026 or 16 January 2027.
The agency issued an updated allergy alert on 30 October 2026, adding the January 2027 date to its original notice. The revised alert, last modified on 1 November, replaces the previous notification and identifies both dates as affected by the same labelling problem.
The product was sold through Iceland stores, according to the Daily Express, which reported that the sharing box was no longer available. The publication also clarified that the warning does not extend to every Walkers multipack or Monster Munch product.
The individual packets inside the sharing box carry the correct allergen information. The discrepancy concerns the outer box, where wheat and gluten have not been declared despite their presence in the Monster Munch Giants Roast Beef snack.
PepsiCo has issued point-of-sale notices explaining the recall and advising customers what action to take. The company has also been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations so their members can be informed.
Health Risks and Refund Advice for Affected Customers
The FSA has warned that the undeclared wheat and gluten could pose a health risk to people with wheat or gluten allergies, intolerances or coeliac disease.
According to the NHS, food allergies differ from food intolerances, and allergic reactions can sometimes be serious. Symptoms requiring emergency attention include sudden swelling of the lips, mouth, throat or tongue, as well as difficulty breathing.
People experiencing these symptoms should call 999. Where someone having a serious allergic reaction has an adrenaline auto-injector or nasal spray, NHS guidance advises using it immediately and contacting emergency services, even if symptoms appear to improve.
Coeliac disease presents a different health concern. The NHS describes it as an autoimmune condition in which consuming gluten causes the immune system to attack the body’s tissues, damaging the small intestine. Symptoms can include diarrhoea, abdominal pain and bloating.
Customers who have purchased an affected sharing box and have a relevant allergy, intolerance or coeliac disease should not consume it. They can request a full refund by calling the PepsiCo Consumer Care Line on 0800 274 777 or visiting contact.pepsico.com/walkers.
The FSA distinguishes between withdrawing food from shelves and recalling products already purchased. In this case, the recall specifically asks affected consumers to take action because the missing allergen declaration could put their health at risk.
