The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued multiple recall notices covering products ranging from cheese and wraps to crisps, chocolate and frozen desserts. According to the FSA, consumers who have purchased affected products should follow the instructions provided by manufacturers and retailers.
Cheese, Wraps and Seeds Recalled Over Contamination Risks
In Northern Ireland, Macroom Buffalo Cheese Products is recalling Macroom Buffalo Cheese Mozzarella and Macroom Buffalo Cheese Bocconcini after Listeria monocytogenes was found in the products. The affected items are the 125g mozzarella and 160g bocconcini packs, both with a use-by date of 7 September 2026.
According to the FSA, symptoms linked to Listeria monocytogenes can include a high temperature, muscle aches, chills, sickness and diarrhoea. In some cases, infections can lead to serious complications, including meningitis. The agency said older people, pregnant women, babies under one month old and people with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable.
The recall advice states that customers who have bought the affected cheese should not eat it and should return it to the retailer for a full refund.
A separate recall affects several filled wraps produced by Summit Foods. The products include Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap. All use-by dates up to and including 5 September 2026 are included.
According to the FSA, the wraps may contain Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The bacteria can cause severe diarrhoea, abdominal pain and, in some cases, haemolytic uraemic syndrome, a condition that can lead to kidney failure.
The FSA has also issued a recall for Rapunzel bioSnacky Das Original Red Clover Seeds for Sprouts and Seedlings from A.Vogel Ltd. The affected 30g packs have batch code 11293 and a best-before date of December 2028. The product was recalled because STEC was found in the seeds.
Allergy Warnings Affect Crisps, Chocolate and Frozen Dessert Products
Several recalls involve products where allergens were not correctly declared on packaging. ASR Solutions Ltd has recalled Lay’s Sour Cream & Dill Crisps sold at Home Bargains because the product contains milk and wheat (gluten) that are not mentioned on the label.
According to the FSA, the 125g crisp packets with best-before dates up to and including 31 October 2026 may pose a risk to people with allergies or intolerances to milk or wheat, or those with coeliac disease. Customers affected by the recall have been advised not to eat the product and to return it for a refund.
Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd has also recalled several chocolate products sold in England, Scotland and Wales because they contain undeclared milk and soya. The recalled items include Medium Coloured Ladybird, Small Red Ladybird, Large Red Heart, Mini Butterflies and Sports Car products with various best-before dates in 2027 and 2028.
The FSA stated that these products may present a health risk to people with allergies to milk or soya. Customers with affected products have been advised to return them to the store where they were purchased.
A further recall concerns Gü Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert, sold at Tesco and Waitrose. The product, with lot number 126135 and a best-before date of 30 June 2027, may contain hazelnuts and soya not listed on the label. The FSA advised customers with relevant allergies not to eat the dessert and to return it for a refund.
