The recognition comes as OVO continues to promote Beyond through a range of customer offers linked to energy use and low-carbon technologies. According to OVO, the programme has also generated measurable participation in electric vehicle charging, solar panel adoption and heat pump use.
Digital Team Recognised for Developing beyond Programme
According to OVO, its Beyond team was named Digital Team of the Year at this year’s Digital Technology Leaders Awards. The company said the award recognises a cross-functional team bringing together specialists in product, engineering, data, design and commercial operations.
OVO stated that the team combines what it described as startup agility with enterprise-scale delivery, allowing it to focus on developing the Beyond loyalty programme for customers. According to the company, this approach has reduced the time needed to bring complex products from concept to launch, with some propositions reaching customers in as little as five weeks.
The company reported that this pace of development has enabled Beyond to grow from its launch to more than 750,000 customers in just over 24 months. George Penman, Director of Propositions at OVO, said the award reflects the achievements of a cross-functional and autonomous team.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the Beyond team has been named Digital Team of the Year at this year’s Digital Technology Leaders Awards,” Penman said. He added that the team’s approach combines technical innovation with customer-focused solutions while supporting customers as they transition to a lower-carbon future and delivering commercial value.

Programme Offers and Customer Participation Highlighted
OVO said Beyond members are currently able to claim two hours of free electricity each week until Sunday 2 August. According to the company, the programme also provides discounts of up to 40% with partner brands.
The energy supplier released figures showing how customers have engaged with parts of the scheme since its introduction. According to OVO, Beyond members have collectively recorded 35.5 million electric vehicle miles and installed 156,000 solar panels. The company also said customers have unlocked 1.5 million hours of free electricity together with approximately 157 million hours of free heat pump heating. Penman said the programme was designed to reward customers who take part in the energy transition, whether they are at home or away during the summer months.
He said that offers including two free hours of electricity each week, a free annual boiler service and giveaways through OVO Live are intended to help households reduce costs while using the programme’s services. According to OVO, these initiatives form part of the Beyond loyalty scheme, which continues to expand following its growth to more than 750,000 customers and the latest industry recognition for the team responsible for its development.
