Stellantis has recalled more than one million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles after identifying an electrical issue that could, in rare cases, lead to a fire. Owners have been advised to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from buildings until a repair is available.
The recall applies to certain model-year 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles. According to reports, the issue involves wiring connected to the electric hydraulic power steering pump, which may overheat and ignite nearby combustible materials.
The action marks one of the largest recent recalls affecting the Jeep brand and comes amid a series of safety-related recalls involving several Jeep models over the past year. Stellantis has said it expects a remedy to be available by July.
Electrical Fault Prompts Precautionary Parking Warning
The recall covers an estimated 1,076,999 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles from the 2021 to 2025 model years. According to Stellantis spokesperson Frank Matyok, cited by both the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News, a poor electrical connection within the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring can lead to overheating.
“In rare circumstances, this may cause combustible materials to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire,” Matyok said in a statement.
As a precaution, FCA US, Stellantis’ American operating unit, is advising owners to park affected vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles while the company develops a solution. The automaker has not yet finalised a repair programme, though it anticipates having a remedy available no later than July.
Once the fix is ready, owners will be notified by first-class mail and instructed on how to arrange repairs through authorised dealerships. Depending on the individual vehicle, technicians may inspect and replace the wiring harness and the electric hydraulic power steering pump.
According to information reported by FOX Business, the recall also includes approximately 106,258 vehicles in Canada, 23,704 in Mexico and 124,297 vehicles in markets outside North America.

Latest in a Series of Jeep Safety Recalls
Stellantis said the issue was identified during an internal investigation. According to The Detroit News, the company had not immediately confirmed whether any vehicle fires had been reported in connection with the defect.
The recall follows several other safety actions affecting Jeep vehicles in recent months. Late in May, Stellantis recalled 419,035 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models because of a software issue that could delay side airbag deployment during a crash, according to The Detroit News.
The Jeep brand also faced multiple recalls involving its plug-in hybrid models. According to the Detroit Free Press, an over-the-air software update problem in October 2025 caused many Wrangler 4xe vehicles to lose power while being driven. Weeks later, drivers of more than 320,000 Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles were advised to stop charging their vehicles and park them away from structures because of a potential battery fire risk.
Another recall announced in November 2025 affected both plug-in hybrid models after sand contamination within the engine was found to pose a risk of engine failure, loss of power or fire, according to the same report.
Documentation related to the latest Wrangler and Gladiator recall was expected to be published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on 9 June, according to the Detroit Free Press. Stellantis has stated that affected owners will receive further instructions once the repair programme is ready.
