The affected jars carry the UPC code 194346207961, lot code LB028ACP04, and an expiration date of 28 January 2027 printed on the packaging. The product was manufactured by Gustibus Alimentari Srl of Assoro, Italy, imported by Botticelli Foods of Melville, New York, and distributed exclusively by Walmart Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas. Health Risks Linked to Salmonella Exposure

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause salmonellosis, an illness affecting the gastrointestinal system. Symptoms generally appear between 12 and 72 hours after infection and usually last between four and seven days.

According to the FDA, people infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Some infections can become more severe, particularly among young children, older adults, frail individuals and people with weakened immune systems.

The agency noted that in rare cases, Salmonella infections can spread beyond the intestines and enter the bloodstream, potentially leading to more serious conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

The recall began after Walmart learned on 17 July 2026 that routine testing by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had found Salmonella in three jars collected from a Walmart store. The company later issued the recall for the single affected lot.

As of the recall announcement, Botticelli Foods stated that it was not aware of any illnesses or injuries connected to the product. The recall remains active, with consumers encouraged to check their jars and avoid consuming any product matching the listed lot details.
