The announcement comes as U.S. holiday retail spending is expected to exceed $1 trillion for the first time. Retail forecasts point to continued growth in online shopping, while consumers remain concerned about rising prices and household budgets. Walmart’s longer sales calendar coincides with a holiday season in which major retailers are competing for shoppers across physical stores and digital platforms.

Walmart Adds Four Days to Its Black Friday and Cyber Monday Calendar

Walmart’s first Black Friday event will run from November 12 through November 15, followed by a second event scheduled for November 23 through November 29. Its Cyber Monday promotion will begin November 30 and continue through December 2.

According to Retail Dive, the combined events will cover 14 days, compared with 10 in 2025. Last year’s schedule also included three promotional events, although the retailer provided more advance information about specific discounted products.

For the 2026 events, Walmart has highlighted thousands of gifts priced below $20 without identifying individual products in its initial announcement. The company said the promotions would cover major brands, seasonal merchandise and holiday gifts.

Online access to the sales will begin at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time, while participating store promotions will start at 6 a.m. local time. Cyber Monday deals will be available online beginning November 30.

Walmart+ members will receive early access to selected offers during the first two events. Certain deals will initially be reserved for subscribers on November 12 and November 23, before becoming available to other shoppers the following day.

The retailer has also introduced a combined Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus membership costing $120 annually. The package brings together benefits from both subscription programs as Walmart continues developing its delivery, shipping and pickup services.

Holiday Retail Spending Is Forecast to Exceed $1 Trillion

The expanded sales schedule arrives amid expectations of record U.S. holiday spending. According to The Independent, retail sales during November and December are projected to reach $1.02 trillion, representing 4.5% growth from the previous year.

The forecast also indicates that inflation will account for more than half of the nominal increase in sales. Nonstore retail spending is expected to grow 9%, while physical-store sales are projected to increase 2.5%.

Online shopping represents another major part of the seasonal outlook. According to Adobe, U.S. consumers are expected to spend $275.1 billion online between November 1 and December 31, a 6.7% increase year over year. Cyber Monday alone is projected to generate $15.1 billion in online purchases, compared with $12.9 billion on Black Friday. Adobe also expects discounts to reach 30% in selected categories during Cyber Week.

Competition remains concentrated among established retailers. Amazon accounted for an estimated 37.6% of U.S. e-commerce sales in 2025, compared with Walmart’s 6.4%, based on figures published by Synctify. The figures provide context for Walmart’s extended promotional calendar as retailers prepare for a holiday season marked by rising online spending, price-conscious consumers and continued competition for sales.
