Lloyds Banking Group has scheduled 17 branch closures across the UK this October, affecting customers in England and Wales. The shutdowns involve 15 Lloyds branches and two Halifax locations, with several closures already completed and others scheduled before the end of the month.
Lloyds Confirms Closures Across England and Wales
According to Birmingham Live, the closures form part of changes to the banking group’s physical network. The affected locations include town centers and suburban shopping districts, where customers may need to travel farther for face-to-face services.
Lloyds says it assesses the consequences for customers before shutting a branch. The bank, which also operates branches in Birmingham, says it will “always look to understand the impact on our customers, including how they continue to access banking services.”
The group has also outlined possible alternatives for communities losing their local branches.
“Because of this, we may sometimes have a Community Banker visit the area after the branch closes. Or as part of an independent review a Banking Hub or Deposit Service may be set up in a nearby location.”
These arrangements are not guaranteed for every affected community.

What Lloyds Says About Banking Access After Closures
Lloyds says its closure announcements follow regulatory requirements.
“We follow Financial Conduct Authority guidance when announcing closures.”
The group is also expanding co-servicing, allowing customers of its three banking brands to access services across shared channels.
“Lloyds is proud to be part of the same family as Halifax and Bank of Scotland. We’re introducing more ways you can manage any personal accounts you have with Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland in one place, using co-servicing. Whether that’s online through the apps and online banking, or with a colleague over the phone, or in a branch.”
The changes are intended to provide customers with more options for managing accounts, although digital and telephone services do not fully replace every service available at a physical branch.
For customers who rely on in-person banking, the remaining October closures will take place between October 19 and October 29, according to the published schedule.
