The recall applies only to a specific 140g product with a best-before date of 22 August 2026. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the issue relates to undeclared milk, which could pose a health risk to people with a milk allergy or an intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The recall was announced on Saturday after the Food Standards Agency published an Allergy Alert outlining the affected product and the action consumers should take. Morrisons has also issued notices in stores explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers how to return the product. According to the FSA, no other Morrisons products are affected by this specific labelling issue.

Incorrectly Packed Product Prompted the Recall

The affected item is Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net, sold in 140g packs with a best-before date of 22 August 2026. According to the Food Standards Agency, some packs may have been filled with the wrong product, which contains milk that is not declared on the packaging.

The agency said the undeclared allergen makes the product “a possible health risk” for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents. Its advice is clear: customers who have purchased the product and are affected by those allergies or intolerances should not eat it and should instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.

Morrisons has issued its own customer notice alongside the recall. The retailer said: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.” The supermarket also stated that no other products are included in the recall and apologised for the inconvenience caused, adding that it remains committed to product quality and safety.

Fsa Issues Allergy Alert and Outlines Consumer Advice

According to the Food Standards Agency, Morrisons has been instructed to contact relevant allergy support organisations so they can inform their members about the recall. The retailer has also displayed point-of-sale notices in its stores explaining why the product has been withdrawn and what customers should do.

The FSA explained that food products may be withdrawn from sale or recalled from consumers when there is a risk linked to missing or incorrect allergy labelling. In such cases, it issues an Allergy Alert to inform the public and reduce the risk to consumers affected by food allergies.

This recall follows another recent food safety notice involving fresh fruit products sold by several major UK supermarkets. Earlier in the week, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s recalled selected fruit pots because of concerns about possible salmonella contamination. According to the Food Standards Agency, consumers who had bought the affected fruit products were also advised not to eat them and to return them to the retailer for a full refund.

The current recall, identified by reference FSA-AA-33-2026, applies specifically to the Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net snack with the stated best-before date. Customers without a milk allergy or intolerance are not included in the allergy advice issued by the Food Standards Agency, while those who are affected have been advised not to consume the product and to return it for a refund.
