Parts of the UK are set for a short spell of unusually warm weather next week, with temperatures forecast to climb as high as 28C in some areas.
The warmer conditions will arrive after a period of cloud, rain and heavy showers, bringing a noticeable shift in the weather pattern. The South West of England is among the regions expected to benefit, with temperatures potentially reaching 24C to 25C over the weekend and into early next week.
South West Regions Prepare For Warmer Conditions
Forecast models show Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Bath and parts of the Cotswolds could see temperatures rise into the low to mid-20s.
Bristol is expected to reach around 23C on Monday, while Bridgwater and Taunton could see temperatures close to 24C during the afternoon.
Weather anomaly charts for the coming week show England and Wales marked with red and orange shades, indicating temperatures are likely to sit above the seasonal average.
Warm Spell Follows A Period Of Rain And Showers
The warmer conditions are expected after widespread rainfall and heavy downpours affect large parts of the UK.
The improvement in conditions is forecast to be temporary, with temperatures across the South West expected to ease again after Monday.
According to the Met Office, the longer-range forecast for the South West from September 15 to 24 points to a changeable period with a mix of unsettled and calmer weather.
The forecast says: “Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times.
“There will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas.
“Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north.
“Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.”
September Weather Outlook Remains Mixed
The wider UK forecast suggests the rest of September could bring alternating periods of rain, wind and calmer conditions.
Southern areas may see more settled weather at times, while northern and western parts of the country remain more exposed to Atlantic weather systems bringing showers and stronger winds.
The Met Office also indicates that high pressure could become more influential later in the month, with the possibility of more settled conditions developing away from the far north.
