IKEA has recalled two kitchen products sold under its IKEA 365+ range, urging customers to stop using them immediately and return them for a refund. The recalls affect a garlic press and a stirring spatula after safety concerns were identified.
The action was announced on 15 June 2026 and involves products linked to different risks. One recall relates to the possibility of metal fragments entering food, while the other concerns the migration of chemical substances from the product into food.
The recalls have been highlighted by the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), which said consumers should discontinue use of the affected items. IKEA has stated that proof of purchase is not required for customers seeking a refund.
Garlic Press Recalled after Reports of Metal Fragments Contaminating Food
The IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL Garlic Press has been recalled because small metal fragments may detach during normal use and contaminate food. According to the OPSS, the product presents a risk of injury if those fragments are ingested.
The affected product carries article number 201.521.58 and includes date stamps ranging from 2411 to 2522, corresponding to products purchased between March 2024 and May 2025. The OPSS described the item as a black and silver garlic press and stated that it does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
According to the OPSS product recall notice, consumers who own an affected garlic press should stop using it immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. A receipt is not required.
The regulator also noted that the recall of the affected garlic press commenced in June 2025. IKEA has advised customers who are unable to identify the date stamp on their product that they may still return the item for a refund.

Stirring Spatula Withdrawn over Chemical Migration Concerns
A separate recall has been issued for the IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE Stirring Spatula. The product has been withdrawn because of what was described as the unsafe migration of primary aromatic amines (PAA) into food.
According to information reported by IKEA and cited by The Sun, harmful chemicals contained within the product material may migrate into food at levels exceeding accepted safety limits. Primary aromatic amines are commonly associated with certain black plastic products and may be classified as toxic or carcinogenic following long-term exposure.
The recall applies to spatulas carrying article number 401.494.62 and date stamp 2445. IKEA indicated that affected products were purchased after November 2024.
As with the garlic press recall, customers are being instructed to stop using the spatula immediately and return it to an IKEA store. According to the information published by IKEA, consumers will receive a full refund without needing to provide proof of purchase.
The company has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the recalls. Both actions remain in place, with the OPSS and IKEA advising consumers to check product numbers and date stamps where possible and return affected items to prevent any potential risk associated with continued use.
