British Gas is offering its PeakSave customers a significant 50% discount on electricity for a two-hour window tomorrow. The move aims to help customers reduce their energy bills while encouraging greener energy usage, capitalising on favourable weather conditions that have boosted renewable energy supply.
The event, set for Wednesday between 2pm and 4pm, is part of British Gas’s ongoing commitment to its PeakSave Green Flex scheme. With more renewable energy available due to windy and sunny conditions, customers can take advantage of half-price electricity by shifting their energy consumption to this window. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy by the company to promote sustainable energy usage while offering customers cost-saving opportunities.
The Benefits of PeakSave Green Flex for Customers
The PeakSave Green Flex events are designed to reward customers who use electricity when the grid is most efficiently supplied by renewable sources. By offering 50% off electricity during periods of high renewable energy generation, British Gas encourages consumers to adjust their daily routines to match these windows.
According to British Gas, customers can save on energy bills by using high-energy appliances, such as washing machines, ovens, or lawn mowers, during these discounted times.
As part of the initiative, British Gas uses its own forecasting data to determine the best times to offer the discounts, ensuring that it does not only benefit customers but also optimises the energy grid. The savings will be reflected as credits on customers’ energy bills, providing immediate financial relief and further incentivising eco-friendly energy consumption.
How to Take Advantage of the Offer
To access the discount, customers must ensure they are part of the PeakSave scheme and have a smart meter. Registration for the scheme is open to both new and existing customers, with British Gas offering free smart meters for those who are not yet enrolled. In addition to tomorrow’s event, customers can benefit from regular Sunday half-price electricity between 11am and 4pm.
New customers can sign up for PeakSave through the British Gas website, where they can also book their free smart meter installation. Over the course of the programme, British Gas has already paid over £25 million in savings to more than a million customers, demonstrating the broad reach and success of the initiative.
By continuing to incentivise energy usage during optimal times, British Gas is not only supporting its customers but also encouraging a more efficient and sustainable approach to energy consumption.
