Barclays has provided clarification on the usual delivery period for new Barclaycards after a customer contacted the bank about a card that had not arrived nearly a week after being ordered. The response comes as banks regularly receive customer queries about replacement cards, including lost, stolen or damaged cards. Barclays said customers requesting a new card should allow a specific number of working days before further support can be provided.

Barclays Confirms Seven to Nine Working Day Timeframe for New Cards

A Barclays customer contacted the bank through social media after ordering a new credit card and waiting several days without receiving it. The customer asked: “I ordered a new credit card with you on Sunday. It’s now nearly been a week and still not received it.”

In response, Barclays explained that new Barclaycards generally arrive within seven to nine working days. According to Barclays, customers who are still within this timeframe may need to wait a few more days before reporting that the card has not arrived.

The bank said: “New Barclaycards typically arrive with 7-9 working days. As you’re within that timescale that new card could still arrive over the next few days, but if this doesn’t arrive we’ll be able to support you further.”

Customers who need a replacement Barclaycard can request one through the Barclays app or Barclaycard online servicing. The process depends on whether the customer chooses to use mobile banking or the online platform.

Through the app, customers must go to the home page, open “Your Cards”, select the relevant card and choose the option for reporting a lost, stolen or damaged card before following the instructions.

Replacement Requests and Barclays’ Current Account Switch Offer

Customers using Barclaycard online servicing can request a replacement by logging into their account, selecting “Account services” from the menu and choosing “Order a replacement card”.

Barclays also continues to offer a £200 payment for eligible new customers who switch to a Barclays Bank Account. The offer is available to new current account customers opening a sole account, with the switch completed through the Barclays app using the Current Account Switch Service.

According to Barclays, customers must include at least two direct debits as part of the switch and pay in at least £2,000 into the new account within 30 days of opening it. The offer is available until 27 August.

The bank’s clarification on card delivery follows a customer request for information about a delayed card, rather than a change to the existing replacement card process. Barclays has stated that customers outside the normal delivery timeframe can receive further support if their new card does not arrive.

For customers waiting for replacement cards, the bank’s guidance remains focused on allowing the standard seven to nine working day delivery period before seeking additional assistance.
