Aldi’s Ambitious Growth Strategy

According to Aldi UK, the supermarket will launch its new stores between November 6 and December 12, 2025, with locations spread across the country. These openings are part of a £650 million investment across the UK, which also includes refurbishments of existing stores. Aldi’s decision to open new locations in diverse areas, such as:

  • McGavigans Road, Kirkintilloch, Scotland

  • Dundee Road, Arbroath
  • The Green, Cheadle
  • Boghall Road, Baillieston
  • Old Shoreham Road, Hove
  • Pershore Market, King George’s Way, Pershore
  • Riverside Retail Park, Yate, Gloucestershire
  • Northallerton, North Yorkshire
  • Harefield Road, Uxbridge
  • Daventry, Northamptonshire
  • Old Kent Road, London

Each new site is set to employ around 40 staff members, bringing a total of over 640 new jobs across the UK. This job creation comes in the context of Aldi’s strong reputation as one of the top-paying supermarkets in the country. The company has also launched a recruitment drive to fill more than 4,500 roles nationwide in preparation for the busy Christmas season. As part of this initiative, Aldi’s store assistants will earn £13.02 an hour nationally, rising to £14.35 per hour in the M25 region from September 2025.

The rapid pace of these openings is indicative of Aldi’s ambitious plans for growth. The company aims to open 40 new stores every year as part of a broader £1.6 billion investment over the next two years. “Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business,” said Jonathan Neale, Aldi’s Managing Director of National Real Estate. “It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”
