The UK is set to face a changeable start to September, with the Met Office forecasting periods of rain, showers and strong winds across parts of the country.

The latest outlook points to an unsettled pattern developing from early September, with northern and western areas expected to see the greatest risk of wet weather. Some southern regions could experience calmer spells later in the forecast period, alongside occasional warmer conditions.

Met Office Predicts Unsettled Weather Across The UK

As reported by the Mirror, the Met Office released its long-range outlook for the period from September 2 to September 11.

The forecaster expects many areas to experience a mix of showers and longer periods of rain, particularly across northern and western parts of the UK.

The Met Office forecast for September 2 to September 11 states: “Likely remaining unsettled with most areas seeing some showers or longer spells of rain at times, with the main focus for these across northern and western areas.

“Potential for some strong and gusty winds at times. Some drier and more settled interludes could develop, perhaps becoming longer in duration across southern areas later in this period. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.”

Temperatures Expected To Stay Close To Average

The September weather pattern is not expected to bring a major temperature shift, with forecasts indicating conditions close to typical seasonal levels.

Forecasters said some areas may still see brief warmer periods, particularly in the south, before more unsettled conditions return.

The outlook suggests that weather conditions could vary between regions, with western and northern areas facing more frequent rain while southern areas may receive longer dry intervals.

Windy Spells And Brief Calmer Periods Possible

The developing weather pattern could also bring periods of stronger winds, especially when Atlantic weather systems move across the UK.

The Met Office highlighted the possibility of strong and gusty winds during parts of the forecast window, while also noting that some more settled periods may appear.

The forecast period runs from September 2 to September 11, according to the latest Met Office outlook.
