Thousands of UK drivers could receive car finance compensation offers from Barclays Partner Finance this month, with affected customers potentially receiving an average payment of around £830. The early settlement offers are expected to be sent before the end of November, although not every eligible customer will receive an offer at this stage.

Who Could Receive A Barclays Payout?

The early offers are aimed at customers whose motor finance complaints were acknowledged by Barclays Partner Finance on or before October 1, 2026. Barclays has said only some customers who meet the relevant conditions will receive an early settlement offer.

Anyone who does not receive an offer this month should not assume they have been excluded from future compensation.

Offers Are Expected Before The End Of November

Barclays Partner Finance is expected to contact eligible customers with offers before the end of November 2026. Customers who receive an offer will have one month to accept or reject it. The proposed payments will be calculated using the methodology set out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Barclays says each customer will be given an explanation of how their offer was calculated, along with information about what accepting a full and final settlement would mean.

What Happens If You Do Not Receive An Offer?

Not receiving an early settlement offer does not necessarily mean a customer will receive nothing. The early payments are being made to some customers while wider legal and regulatory issues surrounding historical motor finance complaints continue.

Customers who do not receive an offer may still be considered for compensation through subsequent action. Barclays Partner Finance said the early settlements were intended to give some customers the option of receiving redress sooner rather than waiting for the outcome of ongoing legal challenges and any subsequent FCA action.

Barclays Has Set Aside £325 Million

Barclays Partner Finance left the motor finance market several years ago. The lender has previously set aside around £325 million to cover potential costs linked to historical motor finance mis-selling.

The current early settlement process relates to affected customers whose complaints meet the relevant conditions. Customers receiving an offer should check the calculation and the terms carefully before deciding whether to accept.

Lloyds Has Also Set Aside Money

Barclays is not the only major lender facing potential costs linked to historical motor finance arrangements. Lloyds Banking Group, which continues to operate in the motor finance market through its Black Horse brand, has set aside around £1.95 billion.

Lloyds has not yet started making compensation payments under the process described in the source material. For Barclays customers, the immediate development is the expected arrival of early settlement offers before the end of November. Anyone receiving one should review the terms before accepting, while those who receive nothing at this stage may still have a route to compensation later.
