The breach affected information held by Serviceaide after an incident that took place between September 19 and November 5, 2024. The compromised data included Social Security numbers and medical information connected to affected individuals.
The lawsuit was brought by plaintiffs who argued that stronger cybersecurity protections could have prevented the incident. Serviceaide provides services to organizations including New York’s Catholic Health, which was among the companies connected to the provider.
Serviceaide Settlement Allows Claims for Documented Losses
Under the settlement terms, eligible class members who provide proof of financial harm may receive reimbursement for losses of up to $5,000. These losses can include bank fees, credit monitoring costs, professional fees and fraudulent charges linked to the data breach.
Claimants must provide supporting documents such as receipts, bank statements or other financial records when submitting their requests. According to The Sun, people who do not have documented losses may still qualify for a one-time payment of $50.
The final amount paid to each claimant may change depending on the number of approved claims submitted. Claim forms must be completed by September 1, and payments are expected to be distributed after a final approval hearing scheduled for September 16, 2026.
