Macy’s has introduced its extended holiday return window, giving customers more time to return eligible purchases made during the final months of 2026.
Macy’s Extends Return Window Through January 31
Most items bought in Macy’s stores or online between October 5 and December 31, 2026, can be returned until January 31, 2027, subject to the retailer’s conditions.
The extended window is part of Macy’s holiday return policy and gives shoppers additional time to return unwanted Christmas purchases.
In-Store And Online Returns Follow Different Rules
Products bought in-store must be returned to a Macy’s store. Online purchases can be returned either by mail or at a Macy’s location. In-store returns are free. Macy’s members can also return eligible online purchases by mail without paying a return shipping fee.
Non-rewards members will have a $9.99 return shipping fee, plus applicable tax, deducted from their refund when returning items by mail.
Dyson And Mac Duggal Items Are Excluded
Not every Macy’s purchase qualifies for the extended holiday window. Products sold by Dyson and Mac Duggal are excluded from the holiday return policy.
These items remain subject to Macy’s standard 30-day return period. Shipping charges on these returns are also not refundable.
Final Sale Items Have Separate Rules
Shoppers should also check whether an item is marked Final Sale or Last Act, explains The US Sun. Macy’s does not make price adjustments on products carrying these designations.
Customers therefore cannot rely on a later price change to secure a refund for the difference on these items.
What Macy’s Customers Should Check
Anyone buying gifts or other products during the holiday period should keep their receipts and check the specific return conditions attached to their purchase.
The extended window applies to most qualifying purchases made between October 5 and December 31, with returns generally accepted until January 31.
The exclusions for Dyson and Mac Duggal products, along with different shipping fees and return methods, mean shoppers should check the policy before sending an item back.
