More than 3.9 million Cuisinart metal grill brushes are being recalled across the United States because loose wire bristles can create a serious injury risk when they end up in food.
The recall affects multiple models sold for nearly 17 years through major retailers and online marketplaces, including Walmart, Amazon, and Cuisinart’s website.
CPSC Announces Recall After Reports Of Metal Bristle Injuries
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall after reports that metal bristles from the cleaning tools could detach during use.
The recall notice states that “small metal bristles from the brushes may come off and stick to the grill or food.” If swallowed, those bristles can cause internal injuries and may require medical treatment.
The CPSC reported that at least three consumers experienced injuries after swallowing metal bristles and required medical procedures to remove them from their digestive tract or throat.
Multiple Cuisinart Grill Brush Models Are Included
The recall covers a wide range of Cuisinart grill cleaning products, including replacement brushes, wire brushes, steam cleaning tools, and grill cleaning systems.
Affected models include:
- FBH-51 Cleaning Brush Replacement
- CGWM-060 16” Wire Detailing Grill Brush
- CCB-012/021 Tri-Wire 12-Inch Grill Cleaning Brush
- CGWM-058 3 Piece Multi-Use Grill Cleaning System
- CGWM-077 Steam Cleaner Grill Brush
- CCB-3001 Triple Threat Grill Brush
- CB-395 Cross Action Grill Cleaning Brush
- CGWM-061 21” Tri Wire Grill Brush
The recall also includes several other brush designs with different handles, materials, and cleaning functions.

Brushes Were Sold At Major Retailers From 2009 To 2026
The recalled products were sold between June 2009 and March 2026 at stores including Walmart, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross, along with online sales through Amazon and Cuisinart’s website.
Consumers who own one of the recalled brushes are advised to stop using it and dispose of the product.
Customers Can Request Refunds Or Credits
Cuisinart customers can contact Conair for compensation options related to the recalled products.
The company is offering a full refund or a credit for purchases made through Cuisinart’s website. The online credit option includes the refund amount plus an additional 20 percent of the cash refund value.
