iPhone users could be in line for a one-time cash payment from a $250 million settlement linked to claims that Apple misled customers in advertising around new AI-powered Siri features. The case centres on allegations that some advertised capabilities were not fully available at launch.
Apple Faces Claims Over Missing iPhone AI Features
The lawsuit alleges that Apple promoted several AI-driven tools during its iPhone 16 launch in 2024, including features such as Visual Intelligence, Live Translation, Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Clean Up, which were reportedly not fully available at the time.
Filed in federal court in San Francisco, the case was brought by Clarkson Law Firm on behalf of consumers who argued they would not have purchased the device, or would have paid less, if they had known the features were limited or unavailable.
Apple has denied wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid further litigation.
Who Is Eligible For The Apple Settlement
Under the terms of the agreement, consumers who purchased certain devices between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025 may qualify for compensation. Eligible devices include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
It is estimated that around 37 million users could be eligible to make a claim once the process is fully approved by the court.

How Much Money Could Claimants Receive
Preliminary estimates suggest payments could be around $25 per device purchased, with potential increases up to $95 per device, depending on how many valid claims are submitted.
The final payout amount will depend on the number of successful applicants and how the settlement fund is distributed.
How The Claim Process Will Work
Once the settlement receives final court approval, eligible customers will be contacted by a settlement administrator with instructions on how to file a claim.
Claimants are expected to have 90 days from receipt of notification to submit their application.
Further details, including exact payment timelines, will be confirmed once the court finalises approval of the settlement agreement.
Wider Scrutiny Around Apple’s AI Rollout
The case comes amid wider scrutiny of Apple’s rollout of artificial intelligence features, with questions raised over how clearly new capabilities were communicated at launch.
While Apple maintains it did not mislead customers, the settlement allows the company to avoid prolonged legal proceedings while compensation is processed for eligible users.
