Eligible Americans may be able to claim compensation of up to $12,500 under a $2.39 million settlement linked to Union Bank & Trust Co., following allegations tied to a 2023 data breach involving the MOVEit file-transfer system. Claims must be submitted by July 21, 2026, with several deadlines already in place for objections and opt-outs.

Settlement Linked To MOVEit Data Breach

The class action relates to a cyber incident involving the MOVEit file-transfer software, which allegedly exposed sensitive personal information between May 27 and May 31, 2023. According to court filings, data potentially accessed during the breach included names, Social Security numbers and other personally identifiable information. Plaintiffs argued that adequate cybersecurity measures may have prevented the incident.

Union Bank & Trust has not admitted wrongdoing but agreed to the $2.39 million settlement to resolve the claims.

Who May Be Eligible For Payments

Individuals affected by the breach may be eligible to submit a claim under the settlement terms. Compensation depends on the type and level of documented losses. Those with ordinary losses may receive up to $2,500. This category can also include limited compensation for time spent addressing the breach, valued at $25 per hour for up to four hours.

Claimants with documented, unreimbursed financial losses may be eligible for additional compensation of up to $10,000. In total, some claimants could receive up to $12,500 depending on eligibility and supporting documentation.

Additional Benefits Included

Alongside financial compensation, eligible class members may also receive two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services covering all three major credit bureaus.

These services are intended to support individuals in monitoring potential misuse of personal information following the breach.

Key Deadlines For Claimants

Several deadlines apply to the settlement process. Requests to opt out of or object to the settlement must be submitted by June 22, 2026. A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 6, 2026.

The final deadline to submit a claim form is July 21, 2026. Only valid and timely submissions will be considered for compensation or related benefits.
