The warmest conditions are expected across southern England, while much of the rest of the country is also likely to see well above-average temperatures. Cambridgeshire remains under a yellow heat-health alert, reflecting the potential impact of prolonged heat on vulnerable people and health services.

The forecast points to several consecutive days of sunshine, high ultraviolet levels and elevated pollen counts across parts of England. According to reports, Thursday is expected to be one of the hottest days locally, with temperatures reaching 33C in Cambridge.

Hot Conditions Expected Across Much of England

Forecasts suggest temperatures will remain high throughout the working week, with several locations expected to exceed the 30C mark. According to weather maps published by Netweather and reported by the Daily Express, Wednesday could see temperatures climb to 33C in parts of London, Surrey, Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex.

The same forecast identifies Oxford and Gloucester reaching 32C, while Dorset, Somerset, Cambridge, Leicester and South Yorkshire are expected to record highs of 31C. Northern parts of the UK are also forecast to become warmer, with temperatures around 25C in some areas of Scotland.

According to the Met Office, the period from Wednesday to Friday is expected to remain largely fine across much of the country. The national forecast states that cloud and rain across northern areas should gradually clear, leaving “plenty of sunny spells” while conditions stay hot across southern Britain.

Nick Finnis of Netweather said high pressure is expected to extend further north during Wednesday, bringing drier and sunnier conditions to eastern Scotland and Northern Ireland, although western Scotland may remain cloudier with the possibility of drizzle. He added that southern, central and eastern England are expected to remain hot, with temperatures between 30C and 33C.

Cambridgeshire Remains Under a Heat-Health Alert

Cambridgeshire is forecast to experience another week of sustained hot weather, with temperatures remaining close to or above 30C for much of the period. According to Cambridgeshire Live, Monday, Thursday and Friday are all forecast to reach 33C in Cambridge, while Tuesday is expected to peak at 29C and Wednesday at 31C.

The local forecast also indicates high ultraviolet levels every day, while pollen levels are expected to remain either high or very high throughout the week.

The Met Office said Monday night should remain dry and mostly cloudy, with lighter winds developing later and minimum temperatures around 14C. Tuesday is forecast to be dry and bright with hazy sunshine, light winds and maximum temperatures around 31C.

The existing yellow heat-health alert highlights the possible effects of prolonged hot weather on health and social care services. According to reports, authorities expect increased demand for healthcare services among vulnerable people alongside a greater risk to life for those most susceptible to extreme heat.

Looking further into the week, the Met Office forecast indicates that dry, sunny conditions are expected to continue through Friday, with light winds becoming somewhat stronger by the end of the week while temperatures remain hot.
