The UK is set to experience a brief but notable spell of warm weather as temperatures across many regions are forecast to climb to 22°C. This “Indian Summer” is expected to offer a sharp contrast to the recent wet and windy conditions that have affected parts of the country. However, despite the milder weather, the Met Office has also warned of rain and potential flooding in certain areas.

According to forecasting maps from Netweather.tv, this warm weather is expected to arrive before the end of September. A significant number of locations, including cities like Norwich, Peterborough, and Cambridge, are poised to experience some of the highest temperatures. This shift in weather patterns is part of a wider trend, with various parts of the UK likely to benefit from a brief respite from the rain.

The Warm Spell: Regions Likely to See 22°C Temperatures

The new forecasts highlight that the warm weather will be particularly concentrated in eastern and central England. Areas such as Norwich, Peterborough, and Cambridge are expected to see temperatures rising to 22°C. These cities, along with Norfolk, will experience the highest readings, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities before the cooler autumn conditions take over.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country are not likely to miss out on the mild conditions, with London, Oxford, and Reading expected to reach highs of 21°C. In the southwest, areas such as Bristol and Bath will see temperatures fluctuate between 19°C and 20°C. According to Netweather.tv, this warm burst will even extend to Scotland, where cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen could experience highs ranging from 14°C to 15°C.

This warmth arrives just as the UK recovers from a period of unsettled weather, which has seen heavy rainfall and strong winds, particularly in Wales and northern England. Although these areas will experience more settled weather, the Met Office has forecast that rain will continue in some regions, especially in southeastern parts of the country.

Met Office Forecast: Settled Conditions and Low Pressure on the Horizon

Looking ahead, the Met Office has provided a long-range forecast that predicts mostly settled conditions across the UK for the start of the coming week. The high-pressure system that will dominate the weather is expected to keep things dry in many areas. However, pockets of cloud and rain may persist, particularly in Scotland‘s northern regions.

From September 24 to October 3, the Met Office anticipates the weather to remain relatively dry, with the main exception being in East Anglia and the southeast. These areas could see some scattered showers and brisk winds. Towards the end of the month, a shift in pressure could bring more variable conditions, with low pressure systems pushing cloud and light rain into the west and northwest.
