An urgent food recall has been issued across the UK after testing identified Salmonella in apple and kiwi used in a range of pre-packaged fruit products distributed by Prepworld. The withdrawal affects ready-to-eat fruit pots, fruit packs and fruit kebabs sold through six major supermarket chains. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), all affected products carry use-by or best-before dates of 23 or 24 June 2026.

Products Withdrawn From Sale Across Six Supermarket Chains

The recall covers 13 products sold by ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose. According to the FSA, testing detected Salmonella in apple and kiwi ingredients used in the products.

Among the affected items are ASDA’s Pink Lady Apple, Mango, Strawberry & Blueberry fruit pot, Morrisons’ Kiwi, Melon & Strawberries pack, and several Tesco products including Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry pots, Kiwi Fruit Pots and Fruit Kebabs containing kiwi, watermelon, mango and pineapple.

Sainsbury’s has recalled three products: Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry, Orange & Kiwi, and Pink Lady Apple & Grape packs. Marks & Spencer has withdrawn three apple-based products, including Café Pink Lady Apple slices and Pink Lady Apple Slices. Waitrose has also removed its Pink Lady Apple and Grapes pack from sale.

According to the FSA recall notice published on 23 June 2026, point-of-sale notices are being displayed in stores that sold the affected products. These notices explain the reason for the recall and provide instructions for customers who may have purchased the items.

The agency has advised consumers not to eat any of the products included in the recall. Instead, customers should return them to the store where they were purchased in order to receive a full refund.

Health Advice and Official Guidance for Consumers

Salmonella is one of the most common causes of food poisoning worldwide. According to information published by the FSA, symptoms typically include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

The agency notes that young children, adults aged 65 and over, and people with weakened immune systems face a higher risk of developing serious illness following infection. While Salmonella is often associated with raw or undercooked meat, poultry and eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables can also become contaminated.

The NHS states that symptoms may begin within hours or days of consuming contaminated food, although in some cases they can take longer to develop. Guidance cited in the recall notice advises affected individuals to stay away from work, school or nursery until they have been free of symptoms for at least 48 hours, helping to reduce the risk of passing the infection to others.

The FSA said: “Prepworld is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.” The regulator reiterated that anyone who has bought one of the recalled fruit products should not consume it. According to the agency’s consumer advice, the products can be returned to the retailer for a full refund, regardless of whether they have already been opened.
