British shoe retailer Wynsors World of Shoes has started closing down sales at 17 locations, with discounts reaching up to 60% as stores prepare to shut permanently.

Customers are being offered reduced prices on a range of products, including trainers, boots, heels, and children’s footwear, as branches attempt to clear remaining stock before their final trading days.

The closures affect stores across several UK towns and cities, including Crewe, Leeds, Sheffield, Gateshead, and Sunderland. The retailer has not announced exact closure dates for each location.

Clearance Discounts Expand Across Affected Stores

The closing down sales have intensified in several branches, with some locations increasing discounts to attract shoppers looking for lower prices.

The Wynsors store in Crewe is offering reductions of up to 60% on hiking boots, while other footwear products have been discounted by as much as 50%.

At the Gateshead branch, customers can find children’s bags for prices starting at £3, alongside discounts of 40% on girls’ boots.

The store in Rochdale has introduced an “everything must go” sale, featuring offers of up to 50% off selected items as staff work to sell remaining inventory.

Retailer Confirms Store Closures As Customers Prepare For Final Sales

According to The Sun, Wynsors World of Shoes is closing the branches after its private equity owners, Modella Capital, highlighted pressures linked to rising costs and possible changes involving rents and jobs earlier this year.

The retailer confirmed the closures in a statement shared with customers.

A statement from the group previously read: “It’s with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing their doors.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Your support has meant so much to the whole team.”

The company has not provided a final schedule showing when each affected store will close. Shoppers visiting the remaining branches can continue to access the clearance offers while stock remains available.

UK Retail Sector Faces Continued Store Closures

The Wynsors shutdowns come during a difficult period for many high street retailers in Britain.

Other chains have also reduced their physical presence. Shoe Zone recently closed a branch on Tooting High Street, where local residents described the closure as disappointing.

Meanwhile, reports have indicated that up to 150 TGJones stores could face closure following the chain’s rebrand from WHSmith last year.

Earlier in the year, Claire’s Accessories entered administration and closed all 154 standalone stores in April.

Wynsors’ closing down sales are now continuing across the affected branches, with stores reducing prices while remaining stock is available before the locations shut their doors.
