Cardzone’s Sheffield store has increased its closing-down discount to 50% off ahead of its final trading day on September 5, 2026.
The greeting card and gift shop at The Moor had previously been offering 30% reductions. Posters displayed at the branch now advertise the larger discount, The Sun reported.
Cardzone opened the Sheffield branch in 2021. Its closure follows a series of store shutdowns elsewhere in the UK.
The Moor’s retailer listing says Cardzone grew from a single Sheffield shop to more than 150 stores nationwide. It sells cards, gifts, gift wrap, candles and confectionery under several retail names.
Cardzone has closed nine other stores in 2026
Before the Sheffield closure was reported, nine Cardzone stores had already shut during 2026, according to a July report from LBC.
Those stores were in Beeston, Kirkby in Ashfield, Reigate, Stroud, King’s Lynn, Scunthorpe, Blackpool, Chesterfield and Didcot.

The Didcot branch closed in January. Cardzone also owns Card Centre, whose Commercial Street store in Newport closed in July after launching a 20% closing-down sale. Cardzone acquired 14 Card Centre stores in Wales in 2014.
The company has pointed to leasehold issues as one factor affecting its locations.
Cardzone cites short leases and renegotiation risks
In comments from its financial statements reproduced by both The Sun and LBC, Cardzone said: “The business leases the majority of its locations, which comes with inherent risks.”
Most of its stores operate on leases lasting less than five years, the company said, warning there were “no guarantees that lease renegotiations will be successful.”
Companies House records list Cardzone Limited as an active private company. Its most recent accounts cover the period ending June 28, 2025, while its next accounts are due by March 31, 2027.

Corporate records also show that Pillarbox Designs Limited has been Cardzone’s active person with significant control since November 2023, with ownership of at least 75% of its shares and voting rights. The ownership information is recorded by Companies House.
For Sheffield shoppers, Cardzone’s branch on The Moor is scheduled to trade for the final time on September 5. Its closing-down discount has now risen from 30% to 50%.
