Several chocolate products sold across England, Scotland and Wales have been recalled after they were found to contain milk and soya that were not listed on the packaging. Customers with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients have been advised not to eat the affected products.
The recall was issued by Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd after concerns were raised over missing allergen information. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the products may present a health risk to people with an allergy to milk or soya, as the ingredients are not declared on the labels.
Affected Chocolate Products Removed from Sale after Allergy Alert
The recalled items include several shaped chocolate products supplied by Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd. The company has instructed shops stocking the products to remove them from sale, while customers who have purchased the items are being asked to check whether they are affected. According to the FSA, the recalled products are:
- Medium Coloured Ladybird with best before dates of 1 March 2027 and 16 January 2028
- Small Red Ladybird with best before dates of 21 January 2027 and 25 January 2027
- Large Red Heart with best before dates of 22 November 2027, 23 December 2027 and 26 December 2027
- Mini Butterflies with best before dates of 21 March 2027 and 9 September 2027
- Sports Car with a best before date of 15 August 2027
The FSA stated that the products contain milk and soya, making them a possible risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or an allergy to soya. The recall applies to products distributed in England, Scotland and Wales. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to retailers, explaining why the products have been withdrawn and what customers should do if they have bought them.
Customers Advised to Return Products for a Refund
People who have purchased the affected products and have an allergy to milk and/or soya have been told not to consume them. According to the Food Standards Agency, customers should return the products to the store where they were bought to receive a full refund.
The FSA said that Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations so their members can be informed about the recall. The company has also provided contact details for customers seeking further information or refunds. Customers can contact Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01937 840681.
A spokesperson for the company said it takes its responsibility to consumers seriously and aims to maintain high standards of product safety. The company also apologised for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by the recall.
Food recalls are issued when a product should not be sold or consumed because of a potential safety issue. According to the FSA, products may be withdrawn from shops or recalled from customers when there is a risk linked to incorrect or missing allergy information. The agency publishes allergy alerts to inform consumers and local authorities about these issues. In cases where action is required from local authorities, the FSA can also issue a Food Alert for Action.
