The recall forms part of a wider action affecting several European countries, with Ferrero stating that no other products in its range are involved. Consumers who purchased the affected croissants have been advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely.

The recall concerns frozen Nutella Croissants sold in packs of four and applies only to products bearing the batch codes L126Z39 and L127Z39. According to Ferrero, the affected packs have best-before dates of 6 May 2027 and 7 May 2027 respectively.

Food recalls of this kind are issued when there is a potential safety risk, allowing retailers and manufacturers to remove affected products from sale while informing customers of the appropriate action to take. In this case, the concern relates specifically to the possible presence of metal fragments within the recalled batches.

Specific Batches Identified as Part of UK and European Recall

Ferrero announced on 25 June that it was recalling selected batches of its frozen bakery products, including Nutella Croissant and Nutella Muffin, because of the risk that some products may contain metal. According to the company’s official statement, the recall applies to products distributed in Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Spain and the United Kingdom.

In the UK, only Nutella Croissant is included in the recall. According to the Food Standards Agency, consumers who have purchased the affected products should not eat them. Instead, they should either dispose of the croissants or return them to the store where they were purchased to receive a full refund.

The affected products are limited to four-packs carrying batch code L126Z39 with a best-before date of 6 May 2027, or batch code L127Z39 with a best-before date of 7 May 2027. Ferrero said that no other batch numbers or dates are affected and stressed that no other Ferrero products are included in this recall.

Retailers selling the product have been instructed to display point-of-sale notices explaining the reason for the recall and outlining the steps customers should follow if they have purchased the affected items.

Ferrero Says No Other Products Are Affected

Ferrero said it has informed food safety authorities in each of the affected countries and is working with retailers and commercial partners to remove the impacted products from the market. According to the company, the recall is confined to specific batches and consumers can continue to purchase and consume other Ferrero products as normal.

Customers who believe they have purchased one of the recalled croissants are advised to check the batch code and best-before date printed on the packaging before taking any action. Those with matching products should not consume them under any circumstances.

Ferrero has asked affected consumers to return the products to the point of purchase. In the UK, customers can also contact Ferrero UK for further information through its customer service helpline or by email, while Lidl stores are providing recall notices with additional guidance for shoppers.
