It has surfaced that several food items, which are recalled by a number of retailers in the UK due to safety concerns. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised consumers not to eat these products and return them to the store for a full refund.

Meat Products

Some biltong types have been withdrawn by The Isle of Wight Meat Company because they were produced without the necessary authorization, making them risky for human consumption. These include:

Johnston Mooney & O'Brien has voluntarily withdrawn some baked goods from local stores across Ireland due to possible metal fragments. The affected products were sold in Tesco, Asda, Lidl and Sainsbury’s supermarkets and consist of:

Brennans has admitted there is “very little risk” associated with it, but still asked people who bought it should take it back to any store where they purchased it in order to receive their money back. Also, Lidl made an apology over this matter.

Nuts in Syrup

The Buram Nuts in Syrup sold by Leo's Import Export & Trading Ltd have been recalled because they may contain foreign bodies as well as apricot kernels that can release hydrogen cyanide. For instance:

Chocolate Hazelnuts

Harvey Nichols has withdrawn Lustrous Hazelnuts in Dark Chocolate because they contain undeclared milk constituents that may harm people with allergies or lactose intolerance. The affected products are:

    • Batch code: 231012, 231017, 230926, and 240228.
    • Best before: 30 September 2024 and 30 October 2024.
