Target has voluntarily recalled about 211,000 children’s sandals after decorative pearls attached to the footwear were found capable of detaching and creating a possible choking hazard for young children.

The recall affects Cat & Jack toddler girls’ tan “Sequerah” footbed sandals, which were sold at Target stores and online between January and May 2026 for about $22. The retailer announced the recall alongside the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) after reports showed that parts of the sandals could come loose during use.

Safety Concerns Lead to Nationwide Product Recall

The recall focuses on the decorative pearls attached to the sandals, which may separate from the product and create a risk if swallowed by a child. The CPSC classified the issue as a potential choking hazard that could result in serious injury or death.

Young children are especially vulnerable to small detachable parts because they may place objects in their mouths during normal activity.

The recall applies specifically to the Cat & Jack Sequerah sandals and does not include all children’s footwear sold by Target.

The company is offering refunds to customers who purchased the affected products. Consumers can return the recalled sandals to Target stores or request a refund through mail options provided by the retailer.

Customers looking for more information can contact Target through its recall support channels. The retailer has provided a toll-free number at 800-591-3869, available daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time.

Additional recall details are available through Target’s product safety information pages and the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Target Responds After Reports of Falling Decorative Pieces

Target said the recall reflects its response to concerns raised about the sandal design and its commitment to product safety.

In a statement, a company spokesperson said: “At Target, we’re committed to providing safe, high-quality products for our guests. Target has voluntarily recalled Cat & Jack toddler girls tan ‘Sequerah’ footbed sandals.”

The retailer described the action as voluntary and encouraged customers to follow recall guidance immediately.

Product recalls involving children’s goods often focus on preventing possible harm before injuries occur.

The reported issue with the Cat & Jack sandals was identified through customer reports of decorative elements becoming detached.

The company is working with safety authorities to address the concern and provide assistance to affected customers.

Parents who own the recalled sandals are encouraged to compare their products with the recall description before allowing children to continue using them.

The affected footwear can be identified by its tan color, footbed design, decorative pearl details, and Cat & Jack branding.
