Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream has issued a nationwide voluntary recall of selected Outshine fruit bars after consumers reported finding glass in the products. The recall covers specific batches of five flavors sold in six-count packages, along with certain 24-count variety packs.

No illnesses or injuries had been reported when the recall was announced. The products were distributed to retailers across the United States, prompting consumers to check package details before eating bars that may be stored in their freezers.

Five Outshine Flavors and One Variety Pack Are Included

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall applies to Outshine Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry fruit bars sold in six-count packages containing 2.5-ounce bars. The 24-count Outshine Variety Pack, also containing 2.5-ounce bars, is included as well.

The FDA said Dreyer’s initiated the recall after consumer reports of glass being found in the product. The company described the action as voluntary and said it was being taken out of an abundance of caution.

The recalled products were distributed to retailers nationwide. Consumers are being asked to identify affected packages by checking the UPC, batch code and best-before date printed on the bottom of the packaging. The FDA notice contains the full list of batch codes and corresponding dates.

The affected best-before dates vary by product and batch. The FDA listing includes dates from May 31, 2027, through November 30, 2027. Specific recalled batches are associated with individual flavors and the variety pack rather than with the entire Outshine product line.

According to CNN, Dreyer’s said only the five named flavors in six-count packages and the 24-count variety pack are affected. The company stated that no other Outshine products or varieties are part of the recall. Dreyer’s said consumers who have purchased a recalled product should either dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone concerned about a possible injury is advised to contact a healthcare provider immediately.

State Officials Are Working With Retailers to Remove Recalled Products

The recall has also prompted action at the state level. In Hawaiʻi, the Department of Health Food and Drug Branch alerted residents about the affected Outshine products and said the recalled bars had been distributed locally as part of the nationwide shipment.

According to the Hawaiʻi Department of Health notice, recalled products were sold through retailers including Times/Don Quijote, KTA Super Stores, Walmart and Target, as well as other stores in the state. Food and Drug Branch officials said they were working with local retailers to make sure recalled products were no longer available for sale.

The state notice repeated the guidance that consumers should first verify whether a package is included by checking its batch code, best-before date and UPC. People who confirm that they bought one of the recalled products should discard it or return it to the retailer for a full refund.

Dreyer’s said no illnesses or injuries had been reported as of the recall announcement. The company also provided a customer service number, 800-392-4885, for consumers with questions about the recall.
