The recall covers a range of Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles produced between 2019 and 2024. The issue concerns the DC-DC converter, a component responsible for converting power between the vehicle’s high-voltage and 12-volt electrical systems.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the converter may malfunction because of an electrical overload during periods of high power demand. A software error may also cause the component to stop operating when the vehicle starts under certain conditions.
Electrical Fault Affects Multiple Jaguar and Land Rover Models
The affected vehicles include the Land Rover Range Rover Sport from the 2019-2024 model years, as well as the 2020-2024 Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover, Discovery Sport and Defender. The recall also includes 2021-2024 Range Rover Velar, Discovery, Jaguar E-Pace and Jaguar F-Pace models.
The DC-DC converter plays a role in maintaining the vehicle’s 12-volt charging system. These vehicles use a high-voltage battery system alongside a conventional 12-volt battery that supports systems such as lighting and electronic accessories.
According to the NHTSA recall notice, failure of the DC-DC converter can result in the loss of 12-volt system charging. This can then lead to a complete loss of drive power and exterior lighting, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Jaguar Land Rover estimates that all of the listed vehicles are affected by the defect. The manufacturer has received 393 claims and field reports related to the issue in the United States, according to FOXBusiness. The recall expands an earlier NHTSA action identified as recall number 26V248. The manufacturer’s recall number for this campaign is E008.
Dealers Will Install a Software Update for Affected Vehicles
Jaguar Land Rover will address the problem by updating vehicle software at no cost to owners. The update will introduce a “limp-home” mode, which is designed to provide a warning to drivers if the DC-DC converter stops working.
According to the NHTSA remedy information, interim letters informing owners about the safety risk are expected to be mailed on 13 November 2026. Further letters will be sent once the final remedy becomes available.
