Bank of America customers may be eligible to receive a share of a $2.25 million class action settlement over alleged ATM fee overcharges, with former users facing a fast-approaching June 29 deadline to submit claims and secure a payout from the agreement.

Bank Of America ATM Fees Settlement Explained

The settlement stems from allegations that Bank of America applied multiple out-of-network ATM fees during single transactions at 7-Eleven machines. The lawsuit claims customers were charged more than once when checking account balances or using ATMs outside the bank’s network, rather than receiving a single fee per visit.

Out-of-network fees are typically applied when customers use machines not operated by their own bank, often at convenience store locations. Bank of America has not admitted wrongdoing and agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.

Who Is Eligible To Claim

Eligibility applies to Bank of America customers who used 7-Eleven ATMs and were charged multiple out-of-network fees between May 1, 2018, and November 16, 2021.

Current customers are automatically included in the settlement process and do not need to file a separate claim. Former customers must submit a claim via the official settlement website before the June 29, 2026 deadline. After this date, no further claims will be accepted.

How Much Customers Could Receive

The settlement fund totals $2.25 million, which will be divided among all approved claimants. Individual payouts will vary depending on how many valid claims are submitted and how the total fund is distributed.

As more people file claims, the final payout per person is expected to decrease.

Deadline And Payment Timeline

The final deadline to submit claims is June 29, 2026. A court approval hearing is scheduled for August 21, after which payments may be issued if the settlement is confirmed. The timeline means payouts are expected only after final judicial approval of the agreement.

Broader Scrutiny Of Banking Fees

The case adds to wider scrutiny of US banks over fee structures and ATM charges. Financial institutions continue to face legal and regulatory attention over transparency in fees and how charges are applied across different networks.

The settlement highlights ongoing disputes over how out-of-network ATM fees are calculated and applied to customer transactions.
