Aldi is launching a limited-time promotion offering shoppers the chance to receive free mystery grocery “blind boxes”, as households continue to face high food prices. The giveaway taps into the growing popularity of surprise unboxing culture, often seen in collectibles and online trends.
Aldi Blind Box Giveaway Launches Next Week
Starting from June 22 to June 25, Aldi will release a limited number of free grocery blind boxes every day at 12pm ET. Each box will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning availability will be limited and likely to sell out quickly.
The boxes will feature different themes, including snacks, fibre, protein, and mystery items, with contents revealed only after delivery. Aldi says the aim is to create a fun, surprise-style experience for shoppers while showcasing popular products.
How To Claim An Aldi Blind Box
Customers will need to visit Aldi’s dedicated blind box website at the time of release and select the day’s available box. They must then enter their delivery details to complete the request.
Each day’s theme will be announced in advance via Aldi’s Instagram page, giving shoppers a preview of what could be included before each drop goes live.
Aldi has warned that demand is expected to be high, and boxes will only be available while supplies last.
What Happens If You Miss Out
Shoppers who do not manage to secure a blind box will still be able to purchase the featured items in Aldi stores throughout the year. The products included in the promotion will remain part of the retailer’s regular range nationwide.
Aldi Expansion Continues Across The US
Alongside the promotion, Aldi is continuing its wider expansion plan across the United States. The supermarket has announced plans to open more than 180 new stores by the end of 2026, covering 31 states.
The company says the expansion is designed to make its discount grocery model more widely accessible, while also strengthening its distribution network and online shopping services.
CEO Atty McGrath said the goal is to make it easier for customers to shop Aldi products, both in-store and online, as demand for affordable groceries continues to grow.
Growing Popularity Of Surprise Shopping Trends
The blind box campaign reflects a broader trend in retail marketing, where surprise-based products and unboxing experiences have become increasingly popular. Inspired by collectibles such as Pokémon cards and viral mystery items, retailers are using limited drops to drive engagement and excitement.
Aldi’s latest initiative combines this trend with grocery shopping, offering consumers a chance to receive free products in a format designed to boost online participation and brand visibility.
