The recall affects products shipped to a distributor in Georgia for further distribution to retail stores and restaurants across the United States. Federal officials said the affected meat may pose food safety concerns because it was not inspected under USDA requirements.
False Inspection Mark Leads to Nationwide Recall
Star Meat Delivery Inc., based in Lucama, North Carolina, is recalling approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef, and goat products that carried the false establishment number “EST. 1363.” According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the establishment number does not have a federal grant of inspection, making products with that mark misbranded and unsafe to eat.
The recalled products were produced on various dates before September 22, 2026, and were packed in vacuum-sealed packaging placed inside cardboard boxes for shipment. The items were distributed in bulk under the A&D Foods label and included products such as goat cuts, beef ribs, beef short ribs, pork ground meat, pork chorizo, pork chops, pork feet, pork ribs, and other raw meat products.
According to the FSIS announcement, individual consumer packages may not display the “EST. 1363” label because retail stores may have applied their own stickers containing pricing information and safe handling instructions. The agency said it may update the product list and labels as more information becomes available.
The issue was identified during routine FSIS surveillance activities. The agency said there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury linked to consumption of the recalled products.
Consumers, Retailers and Restaurants Advised Not to Use Affected Products
The FSIS said consumers who purchased the recalled products should not eat them. Retailers and restaurants that may have received the products are also urged not to sell or serve them. The agency advised that the products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
According to the FSIS, meat produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that could affect consumer health and safety. The agency said it is concerned that some of the recalled products may still be stored in refrigerators or freezers belonging to consumers, restaurants, or retailers.
The recalled meat was sent to A&D Foods, a distributor in Georgia, before being distributed further. FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks to verify that the recalling company has notified customers and that the products are no longer available to consumers.
