The recall affects products sold on Amazon between March 2015 and July 2026. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the toys violate the mandatory safety standard for toys because the batteries can be removed by children. If swallowed, button cell or coin batteries can cause internal chemical burns and death.
The Recalled Toys Contain Accessible Button Cell Batteries
According to the CPSC, the recalled products are LED projecting finger lights sold in boxes containing 50 pieces. The toys were available in white, blue, red and green colors, with “California Cade Electronic” and “Finger Flashlights” printed on the front of the packaging.
Each finger light contains three button cell batteries. The products were sold through Amazon.com by California Cade Electronic, LLC, based in Hacienda Heights, California, for prices ranging from $5 to $16.
The federal agency issued the recall on September 10, 2026, after determining that the battery compartments did not meet the required safety standards. According to the CPSC recall notice, children who swallow button or coin batteries can suffer serious injuries, including internal chemical burns, and the incidents can be fatal.
No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recalled finger lights. The company has asked consumers to stop using the toys immediately, remove them from children’s access and contact Cade California Electronic for a refund.
The recall applies to products manufactured in China and listed under recall number 26-761. Consumers are not required to return the toys by mail. According to the CPSC, customers will be asked to dispose of the finger lights and provide a photo of the discarded products to receive a refund.
Battery Safety Remains a Concern for Children’s Products
Button cell batteries are used in many household items, including remote controls, key fobs, digital thermometers and decorative products. When loose batteries are accessible, young children may mistake them for small objects and swallow them.
According to the CPSC, button cell batteries should be disposed of or recycled following local hazardous waste procedures. The agency also advises families to keep loose batteries away from children and ensure battery compartments on products are secure.
The recall follows federal requirements established under Reese’s Law, which introduced safety rules for button cell and coin batteries, including requirements for secure battery compartments and child-resistant packaging.
Families who believe a child may have swallowed a button battery should seek emergency medical care immediately, even if the child does not show symptoms. The CPSC warns that signs of injury may not appear right away.
