A popular Halloween chocolate product sold in 13 U.S. states has been recalled after regulators found it contained an undeclared milk ingredient that could pose serious risks to some consumers. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of select batches of Crystal Temptations Halloween Chocolatey Eyeballs after the products were found to contain whey that was missing from the packaging information.
The affected chocolates were distributed through major retailers, including Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post. Consumers with milk allergies or severe sensitivity are being warned not to eat the recalled products.
Undeclared Milk Ingredient Prompts Nationwide Recall
The recall was linked to a packaging issue discovered during a review by a TJX analyst. The analyst found that the Chocolatey Eyeballs products contained whey, a milk-derived ingredient, even though the labels did not identify milk as part of the product.
The FDA said the problem was connected to a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging procedures. The missing allergen information created a risk for people who may not expect milk to be present in the candy.
The recall notice states: “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
No injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled chocolates. The FDA is advising consumers who purchased the affected items to stop using them and destroy the products.

Retail stores that sold the chocolates are not providing refunds directly. Customers who purchased recalled products can request a refund from Crystal Temptations by providing proof of purchase.
