Nearly 25,000 lb of frozen buffalo chicken products are being recalled in the United States after authorities found they had been produced without the benefit of federal inspection. The affected items were distributed to foodservice locations across five north-eastern states and may still be held in refrigerators or freezers.
Boston-based Shanghai Ravioli Corporation is recalling approximately 24,900 lb of frozen, not-ready-to-eat Buffalo Chicken Rangoon and Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Sticks. According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, or FSIS, the products were made on various dates between 8 July 2025 and 29 June 2026.
Recalled Products Carried False Inspection Marks
The recall covers cardboard boxes containing 100 pieces of “Buffalo Chicken Rangoon” and boxes containing 120 pieces of “Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Stick”. The labels carry sell-by dates ranging from 8 July 2026 to 29 June 2027.
The products were shipped to foodservice locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The FSIS said the affected foods carried false inspection marks bearing the establishment number “EST. 18004”.
According to the agency, that establishment number does not have a federal grant of inspection. The problem was identified during FSIS surveillance activities, rather than following a report of illness or injury.
The agency classifies the recall as Class I and lists the reason as production without the benefit of inspection. The frozen products are also described as not ready to eat, with the processing category identified as “Heat Treated – Not Fully Cooked – Not Shelf Stable”.
FSIS warned that food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that could present a risk to consumer health and safety. No confirmed illnesses or injuries associated with the recalled products have been reported.
Foodservice Operators Told Not to Serve Affected Items
Officials are particularly concerned that some of the recalled products may remain in foodservice refrigerators or freezers. Locations that purchased the affected Buffalo Chicken Rangoon or mozzarella sticks have been instructed not to serve them.
According to FSIS, businesses in possession of the recalled products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. The agency said it routinely carries out recall effectiveness checks to confirm that companies notify customers and take steps to ensure recalled products are no longer available to consumers.

Shanghai Ravioli Corporation listed Jordan Wu, its quality control manager, as the company contact for questions about the recall. The recall, identified by FSIS as 018-2026, was announced on 26 August 2026 and remained active in the agency’s notice.
