The recall covers 1,719,995 metal wire bristle grill brushes imported by Conair LLC of Stamford, Connecticut. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, or CPSC, the affected products were sold for between $8 and $20 at Burlington, TJ Maxx and Ross stores, as well as online through Amazon and Cuisinart.com, from June 2009 through March 2026.
The affected brushes have black plastic, stainless steel or wood handles, with the word “Cuisinart” stamped on the handle. The CPSC said the small metal wires can detach during use and stick to a grill or food, creating an ingestion hazard and a risk of internal injuries that may require surgery.

Three Consumers Required Medical Treatment After Swallowing Detached Bristles
Conair has received at least 54 reports and reviews involving small wire bristles detaching from the recalled grill brushes. Three consumers swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to have them removed from their digestive tract or throat.
According to the CPSC, consumers should stop using the recalled brushes immediately and contact Conair for a refund or a credit for use at Cuisinart.com. The recall notice states that the credit is worth the full refund amount plus 20% of the cash refund amount. Consumers will be asked to discard their affected brushes.
The recall was announced on July 2, 2026, under recall number 26-601. Consumers can contact Conair toll-free at 888-520-1304 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, or use the company’s designated recall website. The Cuisinart action follows a separate CPSC recall announced in March involving 10 million Nexgrill grill brushes over a similar risk that metal bristles could break off and end up in food.
