Two MorningStar Farms frozen food products are being voluntarily recalled in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica due to the possible presence of plastic pieces in the food.

The recall affects specific lots of Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties. Consumers who purchased the affected products have been advised to discard them and contact the company for a refund.

MorningStar Farms announced the recall on June 18, 2026. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the agency published the company’s announcement on June 22 as a public service. The FDA noted that it does not endorse either the company or its products when posting such notices.

The action applies only to certain products identified by specific package sizes, UPC codes, and “Better if Used Before” dates. No other MorningStar Farms products are included in the recall.

Recall Targets Specific Nuggets and Sausage Patties

According to MorningStar Farms, the recall was initiated because of the possible presence of plastic pieces in the food. The affected products are MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets in 10.5-ounce packages and MorningStar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties in 8-ounce packages.

The recalled Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets carry the UPC code 000 28989 10110 5. The affected packages have “Better if Used Before” dates of July 7, 2027, and July 8, 2027. According to the company announcement published by the FDA, these products were distributed in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica. The notice also states that no other MorningStar Farms brand products are affected by the recall. The FDA classified the issue under food and beverage recalls and listed the reason for the announcement as the possible presence of plastic pieces in the food.

Consumers Advised to Discard Products and Request Refunds

Consumers who purchased the recalled products are being instructed not to consume them. According to MorningStar Farms, affected items should be discarded, and customers can contact the company to receive a full refund.
