Millions of Facebook users who previously received compensation under the platform’s $725 million privacy settlement are now set to receive a second payment. The latest distribution marks another step in the resolution of a long-running class action lawsuit over the handling of user data.
The settlement stems from allegations that Facebook shared users’ personal information with third parties, including Cambridge Analytica, between 2007 and 2022. Meta has denied wrongdoing, but the case proceeded to a settlement that has now entered its final payout stage following the resolution of appeals.
Second Round of Payments Follows Court Approval
According to reports, the second distribution was approved by the court on May 6, 2026, after funds remained available following the initial payout phase. Payments began on June 9, 2026, and are expected to be distributed in batches over approximately four weeks.
The settlement administrator has indicated that the second payments are expected to average between $5 and $7. These payments follow an earlier distribution that began in September 2025, when eligible claimants received an average payment of about $30.
The lawsuit, formally known as In re: Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation, covered Facebook users in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022. The settlement became final in May 2025 after appeals were resolved, allowing distributions to proceed.
Individuals who submitted valid claims by the August 25, 2023 deadline and successfully cashed or received their first payment do not need to take any further action. According to the settlement administrator, those claimants will automatically receive the second payment and will receive an email notification shortly before funds are issued.
Administrators have also warned users about potential scams linked to the settlement. The official settlement website states that legitimate representatives will not request Social Security numbers, driver’s license information, banking details, or administrative fees in connection with the payment process.

Eligibility Was Broad, but the Claim Deadline Has Long Passed
According to the settlement notice, eligibility for the class action covered anyone who used Facebook in the United States during the period from May 24, 2007, through December 22, 2022. While that definition included hundreds of millions of people, receiving compensation required the submission of a claim form before the filing deadline.
Settlement documents show that claimants were required to submit a completed claim either online or by mail no later than August 25, 2023. The claim form requested contact information, account details, and a selected payment method, including options such as PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, prepaid Mastercard, or a physical check.
Roughly 19 million people submitted claims, a small share of the approximately 250 million users who were potentially eligible under the settlement terms. Those approved claims formed the basis for the first round of payments and now qualify for the additional distribution.
No new claims can be filed. The settlement administrator, Angeion Group, LLC, has stated that only previously approved claimants are eligible for the current payments. Individuals who are uncertain about their claim status may contact the administrator using their claim identification number. The settlement website, FacebookUserPrivacySettlement.com, remains the official source of information for claimants as the final phase of payments continues.
