The CPSC Issues Urgent Nationwide Recalls Over Life-Threatening Hazards in Popular Amazon Products

Federal regulators have pulled two Amazon products from circulation after identifying child safety risks so severe they could prove fatal, yet most families who own them have no idea the recall even exists, and the window to act is closing fast.

Federal regulators have ordered the recall of two products sold on Amazon after identifying serious risks to children, including tip-over dangers and the potential for fatal magnet ingestion. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued both notices simultaneously, covering a fabric storage dresser and a tabletop magnet chess game. No injuries have been reported in connection with either product so far.

Both products were available to everyday shoppers at accessible price points, meaning they likely reached a wide range of households across the country. The CPSC is advising all consumers to routinely check recall notices and ensure flagged products are promptly removed from homes where children are present.

Fabric Dressers Found Unstable and Non-Compliant

According to the CPSC, the withdraw covers LIVEHOM 11-drawer fabric dressers sold on Amazon between December 2025 and January 2026 for approximately $110. Around 370 units, distributed by Simplehome, have been pulled from circulation because they are unstable when not anchored to a wall, creating a tip-over risk capable of trapping or seriously injuring a child.

The dressers were found to violate mandatory federal safety standards for clothing storage units under the STURDY Act, legislation enacted specifically to reduce fatal dresser tip-overs involving children. The recalled units came in multiple colors, including black, white, pink, rustic brown, and charcoal black.

Consumers are advised to stop using any unsecured unit immediately and relocate it away from children. The CPSC says customers can claim a full refund by contacting Simplehome directly, marking the product “RECALL,” and submitting photographic proof before disposing of the dresser.

Magnet Chess Game Poses Swallowing and Internal Injury Risk

The CPSC also announced that Stoney Games has recalled approximately 151,600 units of the Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Game after identifying loose, high-powered magnets small enough to be swallowed by children. The games were sold at independent game stores and online, including through Amazon and the Stoney Games website, between October 2018 and September 2025, priced between $15 and $20.

According to the CPSC, the magnets violate federal toy safety standards because they fit within the agency’s small-parts testing cylinder, making ingestion a realistic hazard. The scale of this recall is notably larger than the dresser recall, with more than 150,000 units in circulation across nearly seven years of sales.

The health consequences of swallowing high-powered magnets can be severe. Regulators warn that ingested magnets can attract one another inside the digestive system, leading to intestinal perforations, twisting, blockages, blood poisoning, and death.

What Affected Consumers Need to Do Now

For the magnet chess game, the CPSC is directing consumers to stop use immediately, keep the product away from children, and contact Stoney Games to receive replacement magnets that meet safety standards and do not present a small-parts hazard. The remedy here is a replacement rather than a refund, an important distinction for families assessing their options.

For the LIVEHOM dresser, the path to resolution involves documenting the product before disposal and seeking a full refund through Simplehome. The CPSC’s guidance makes clear that simply storing the dresser out of a child’s reach is not a permanent solution, disposal is the intended outcome.

Across both recalls, regulators are reinforcing a broader message: consumers should make a habit of checking the CPSC’s recall database regularly, particularly in homes with young children where product hazards can turn fatal with little warning.
