Vive Health has issued a recall for over 12,000 of its adult bed rails after a safety concern emerged that could pose a serious risk to users. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled bed rails could lead to entrapment, potentially resulting in asphyxiation and death. The recall includes products sold between August 2023 and December 2025, affecting those who bought the units online from Amazon or Vive Health’s official website.
The recalled bed rails are part of a broader pattern of safety concerns within the adult bed rail market. The warning from the CPSC, issued on February 19, 2026, emphasizes that these products do not meet the required safety standards for portable bed rails. The risk is serious: users could become trapped between the rail and the mattress, which presents a deadly hazard. While no injuries or fatalities have been reported so far, the recall is a cautionary measure aimed at preventing potential harm.
The Hazardous Risks Posed by Vive Health Bed Rails
The main concern with the recalled Vive Health bed rails is the risk of entrapment. According to the CPSC, users may become wedged between the bed rail and the mattress, a scenario that can lead to suffocation or other life-threatening injuries. The CPSC also highlighted that the recalled products do not carry the required hazard warning labels, further compounding the safety issue. This lack of proper labeling is a violation of mandatory standards for adult portable bed rails.
The two affected models, LVA1024 and LVA3031BLK, vary in size and color but share the same design flaw. Model LVA1024 features a white frame with a black handle, measuring 20 inches wide by 32 inches tall. The LVA3031BLK model has a black frame with a black handle and measures 13 inches wide by 18 inches tall. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using these bed rails and contact Vive Health for a full refund. If you own one of the affected models, marking the bed rails with a permanent marker and emailing a photo to the company will be necessary steps for processing the refund.
A Growing Trend of Bed Rail Recalls
Vive Health’s recall is just the latest in a series of similar actions taken by companies manufacturing adult bed rails. The CPSC previously recalled other bed rails, including those from the Sangohe and JOKOSIS brands, due to similar entrapment and asphyxiation hazards. These incidents reflect an ongoing safety issue in the industry, which has raised alarms about the risks these products pose to vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly.
Bed rails are typically used by people with mobility challenges, including elderly patients or individuals recovering from surgery. Despite their intended safety function, they have increasingly been linked to a series of injuries and deaths. As a result, regulatory bodies like the CPSC continue to warn consumers about the potential dangers posed by faulty products.
According to the CPSC, no injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the Vive Health recall so far, but the seriousness of the potential risk cannot be overstated. The fact that these bed rails were sold for prices ranging from $45 to $80, without meeting essential safety standards, has raised concerns about the oversight in the market. Consumers who purchased the recalled products are encouraged to follow the company’s instructions on returning the items and ensuring their safety at home.
