Krispy Kreme Just Reinvented Its Menu—and Long-Time Fans Might Be Divided

Krispy Kreme has just rolled out a major revamp of its doughnut lineup, adding nine bold new flavours and pulling a few long-time favourites from shelves. It’s the brand’s most significant change in over a decade—and it’s already sparking reactions. While some flavours are here to stay, others are strictly seasonal. And one nostalgic fan-favourite might not be returning anytime soon.

Krispy Kreme has introduced nine new full-sized doughnuts to its permanent and seasonal menus, in what the company is calling its biggest menu change in years. The announcement marks a strategic shift aimed at diversifying its offering and responding to customer demand.

The move expands the permanent menu from ten to sixteen doughnuts, bringing both nostalgic flavours and popular limited editions back into the spotlight. The launch also sees the removal of three established options, as the brand moves to refresh its core selection.

Five New Core Flavours Added to the Permanent Line-up

Krispy Kreme has confirmed the addition of five new doughnuts to its permanent menu, increasing the number of full-sized varieties from ten to sixteen. According to the company, this is the first time in more than a decade that it has introduced new core flavours to its standard offering.

The five new doughnuts include the Original Glazed Cake, which combines the texture of an old-fashioned cake doughnut with the chain’s iconic glaze. Another notable inclusion is the Original Glazed Kreme Filled, which introduces the chain’s signature Kreme filling to its flagship ring doughnut.

Other additions feature more indulgent combinations. The New York Cheesecake doughnut is unglazed and filled with cheesecake-flavoured Kreme, dipped in vanilla icing, and topped with golden graham crunch. The Oreo Cookies and Kreme doughnut brings together a chocolate-iced exterior, cookie crumb topping, and a cookies-and-cream flavoured centre. Rounding out the selection is the Cinnamon Apple Filled, coated in cinnamon powder and filled with apple cinnamon Kreme.

According to Krispy Kreme’s chief brand and product officer, Alison Holder, the new line-up aims to give customers “more variety, more flavor and most importantly more choice.”

Seasonal Rotation to Feature Four New Flavours, Five Times per Year

In addition to the permanent changes, Krispy Kreme is introducing four seasonal doughnuts, which will be available for a limited time. The company has stated that it plans to rotate seasonal options five times a year, creating 20 limited-time flavours annually.

The new seasonal options include the Biscoff Cookie Butter Kreme, which is unglazed and filled with Biscoff-flavoured Kreme, then dipped in cookie butter and finished with Biscoff crumbs and vanilla drizzle. The Maple Iced doughnut features a maple-flavoured icing over the Original Glazed base.

Also included is the Chocolate Fudge Brownie doughnut, which pairs a brownie batter-flavoured buttercream topping with brownie crunch pieces and rainbow sprinkles. Finally, the Original Glazed Pumpkin Spice Cake doughnut offers a seasonal twist on the brand’s classic cake doughnut, infused with pumpkin spice.

According to Krispy Kreme’s official press release, many of these flavours have been “customer favourites” during previous limited-time runs or were heavily requested via social media. The chain reports that the development of this updated menu took over a year of testing and consumer feedback.

Krispy Kreme also confirmed the removal of three flavours from its core menu: Original Glazed Blueberry Cake, Original Glazed Lemon Filled, and Cake Batter. The company noted that these may return in the future but did not provide a timeline. As of this week, the new doughnuts are available in Krispy Kreme shops across the United States and online via its ordering platforms.
