The move comes as gasoline prices continue to change across the United States, with many drivers looking for ways to manage higher costs at the pump. The convenience store chain has introduced the option as part of a wider expansion of benefits available to members of its rewards program.
According to 7-Eleven, customers using the Price Lock feature can “lock in a low fuel price in your area for 4 days in the 7-Eleven app” and keep that price during the 96-hour period, even if local prices change.
The feature is available through the 7-Eleven app after customers join the company’s 7Rewards program. Alongside Price Lock, the program provides several fuel discounts and promotional offers for members.
Customers Can Secure a Fuel Price Through the 7-Eleven App
To use Price Lock, customers must first enroll in 7Rewards by texting “SAVE” to 711711. The initial sign-up offer provides 25 cents off per gallon on the next three fills, followed by 11 cents off per gallon on the next seven fills once registration is completed.
After joining, members can open the “Fuel” section of the 7-Eleven app and select the “Lock Price” button located on the Price Lock banner. Customers then choose their preferred fuel grade and can view participating stores where the locked price can be used.
Once at the station, customers must pay through Mobile Pay in the 7-Eleven app to apply the locked price. The company’s system is designed to let users select a price before arriving at the fuel station rather than relying on the price displayed when they fill up.
National Gasoline Prices Have Moved Higher in Recent Weeks
The new feature arrives as average fuel prices continue to fluctuate. According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $4.099 on July 28.
AAA data also showed that the average price was $4.019 one week earlier and $3.867 one month earlier. A year earlier, the national average price for regular gasoline was $3.143 per gallon.
The changing fuel market has led companies to introduce different savings programs aimed at helping customers reduce their expenses. 7-Eleven’s Price Lock option focuses on giving drivers a temporary guarantee on the price they select through the app.
7REWARDS Members Receive Additional Fuel Savings and Promotions
The Price Lock feature joins other benefits already available through 7Rewards. After the initial enrollment offers, members receive $0.05 or more off every gallon when purchasing fuel.
The program also includes additional fuel savings for teachers, military members, first responders, medical workers and students. 7-Eleven also runs seasonal and holiday promotions throughout the year.
According to 7-Eleven, the company marked its signature dates by offering 50 cents off per gallon on July 7 and July 11. These promotions are part of the broader discounts available to customers who participate in the rewards program.
With gasoline prices changing regularly, 7-Eleven’s latest update gives eligible customers another way to plan their fuel purchases and use available discounts through the company’s mobile platform.
