The latest\u00a0weather maps<\/strong>\u00a0show that the cold weather will strike the UK from\u00a013 December<\/strong>, with widespread\u00a0snow<\/strong>\u00a0expected across large parts of the country. Some areas in\u00a0Scotland<\/strong>, particularly the\u00a0Highlands<\/strong>, and parts of\u00a0Northern England<\/strong>, could see\u00a0snowfall accumulations<\/strong>\u00a0of up to 8 inches (20.32 cm)<\/b>, especially in higher ground. This severe weather front will likely cause\u00a0disruptions to travel<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0delays<\/strong>\u00a0across the affected regions.<\/p>\n

WXCharts<\/strong>, a popular weather tracking tool, predicts that the\u00a0north-west<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0north-east of England<\/strong>, as well as\u00a0Wales<\/strong>, will be the first to experience this icy onslaught.\u00a0Southern England<\/strong>\u00a0may remain relatively mild, but still expect a significant\u00a0drop in temperatures<\/strong>\u00a0in the days leading up to Christmas. In addition, the UK could see\u00a0strong winds<\/strong>\u00a0alongside the snow, exacerbating the already treacherous travel conditions.<\/p>\n

Conditions to Intensify After 13 December<\/h2>\n

According to the\u00a0Met Office<\/strong>, from\u00a013 December onwards<\/strong>, temperatures will begin to dip below freezing, with the potential for\u00a0ice<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0snow showers<\/strong>\u00a0continuing through\u00a0Christmas week<\/strong>. The north of the UK, including parts of\u00a0Scotland<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Northern Ireland<\/strong>, will see the worst conditions, with some mountainous regions in\u00a0Scotland<\/strong>\u00a0receiving\u00a0up to 10 cm of snow<\/strong>.\u00a0Rain<\/strong>\u00a0will also become more prevalent across the\u00a0west<\/strong>, turning into\u00a0snow<\/strong>\u00a0as temperatures fall.<\/p>\n

In areas like\u00a0Cumbria<\/strong>,\u00a0Northumberland<\/strong>, and\u00a0Yorkshire<\/strong>, snow showers will likely start by the\u00a0morning of 13 December<\/strong>, intensifying in the afternoon and reaching their peak in the midday\u00a0hours<\/strong>. Many other regions in\u00a0South East England<\/strong>\u00a0could also experience light snow by the evening.<\/p>\n
