Forecasts for June are pointing to a significant shift towards warmer, wetter conditions. After a rainy, cold and windy start to the season, people in the UK have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a heatwave - and it looks like their wait is soon over.
Recent forecasts indicate that a heatwave is expected this month, although the exact date when this change will occur is not yet known.
Meteorologists are predicting that parts of Britain, including London and Essex, could experience temperatures of up to 28°C, accompanied by high humidity.
When Will the Heatwave Begin?
According to data from Netweather TV and WX Charts, temperatures are set to rise from June 13. East Anglia, the Midlands and Wales can expect maximum temperatures of 26°C, while London and the surrounding area could reach 28°C.
These conditions are reminiscent of the ‘mini heatwave’ in May, when temperatures reached 24°C for several consecutive days.
Met Office Predictions
The Met Office confirms the forecast of ‘warmer spells’. According to their forecast, although showers remain possible in the south, there should be plenty of dry weather.
They also note a small risk of a more extended period of settlement developing next week. Initially, temperatures could be rather cool, but they should gradually rise back to near-average levels, with an increasing likelihood of warmer spells, particularly in the southern parts of the UK.
As for the end of June, the Met Office acknowledges that the weather signals are weak, but predicts that temperatures will be slightly above average.

BBC Weather Forecast Insights
The BBC's weather forecast also points to the possibility of a heatwave in mid-June. The forecast indicates that during the third week of June, areas of low pressure could move northwards or north-westwards across the UK, allowing the high pressure of the Azores High to extend over the southern parts of the UK, albeit temporarily.
This shift would result in warmer, calmer and slightly drier conditions, particularly in the southern regions. The BBC also reports that the end of June could see ‘warmer than average’ temperatures.
